This 18 inch <a href="https://bigstickcombat.wordpress.com/2010/05/01/tire-knocker-questions-answered/">tire knocker is for truck tires. It is made of durable solid wood. It can be used to check the tires on trucks and large SUV's. Instead of pounding on the tires with your hand, use this tire knocker. Your hands do not get dirty, but you can rest knowing whether your tires have enough air.

It's a piece of extremely hard wood in a cylindrical shape. I keep it by my bedside table just in case I have any tires to knock in the middle of the night.
Warning for those people in Texas

For those of you who carry a "tool" like this in the State of Texas, make sure you are not caught carrying it by a police officer. These are considered "short clubs" by state law, and if found readily accessible in your vehicle (like under the seat)you could be charged with UCW, Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, a class A misdemeanor, with a maximum penalty of a $5000 fine and up to a year in jail. While an officer may choose to overlook it, by the book, you WILL go to jail. I'm posting this warning because I made that mistake, and did go to jail for a short club in Texas. If you want to carry a weapon in Texas, a rifle or shotgun is legal, or a handgun with a carry license, but not a short stick. Learn your state law before carrying a weapon!

Well made "tire knocker". I have one in each car and one for walking. I drive the roads of Texas and don't envision myself jumping out my vehicle to use this for an unintended purpose since everyone here carries. Very handy and easy to swing when my walk is interrupted by un-leashed animals. Never used it, but nice to know I can.
GIVES a licken' and keeps on ticken'!

If you need something that can knock tires or something else in a pinch, this will do it. Wood is solid, and I believe it is hickory - GIVES a licken' and keeps on ticken'! This will not break in half even if you tried to jump up and down on it propping it on a curb (unless maybe you are 500 lbs - but even then, I doubt it). As other reviewers mention, know your state laws if you intend it as a self-defense tool.

This tool is advertised is being one that you keep in your car to check tire pressure with. However, people also buy this for personal protection around their car or even in the home. Whichever you purchase and keep it for, that's your choice. Just remember to check your local laws regarding club weapons.
I Won't be Knocking Tires With This!

This baby is great. Solid hardwood and a little larger than I imagined, which is good. I almost did not order it, because I thought it was too small. I sanded the grooves a little and put a light oil (neatsfoot oil for shoes) on the entire knocker. Beautiful woodgrain and the oil darkened it up. I won't be knocking tires with this!

It is what it is, a small but sturdy billy club. It feels solid in hand and is small enough to handle agilely.

While walking my Lab mix dog, we were attacked by a very agressive German Shepherd in the neighborhood. I had to call 911. That is the reason I ordered the "Tire Knocker". It is the perfect size and weight. I feel very confident in my ability to subdue any aggressive dog in the area. I always take it with me while walking my dog.
